She greatly enhanced the scope and quality of the Girton service, taking it far beyond the standard of many Cambridge colleges; after her retirement she made a generous gift which facilitated the building of a much needed library annexe. She was also Vice-Mistress of the Coll. (1946-1962) and then a Life Fellow.
